Long Term Disability (LTD)*

The Long Term Disability (LTD) plan is designed to provide you income if you are unable to work for a period longer than 26 weeks due to injury or illness.

Elimination period Benefits begin after 26 weeks of continuous disability
Amount of the benefit
  • 60% of your pre-disability earnings until you qualify as eligible for retirement benefits
  • 50% of your pre-disability earnings when you are eligible for retirement (when you reach age 55 and have at least 15 years of service with Avista)
Maximum benefit period
  • Employees with 1 to 10 years of service: 1 year of benefits for each completed year of service
  • Employees with 10 or more years of service: until they reach the limiting age as defined by the Plan
  • Benefits continue for eligible employees until they retire or reach their Normal Retirement Age, whichever comes first
Taxation of benefit Any benefits you receive will be taxable to you
